County government services are administered by the office of the judge executive, who is elected at large, and six magistrates who are elected from their respective districts. In addition to maintaining roads, the county operates several services for residents, including emergency medical services, refuse convenience centers, a recycling center, which generates funds while saving landfill costs, the fire department, which has a “6” insurance rating, the sheriff’s department, and the county jail.
