A Great Place for an Active Lifestyle
Boyle County, in the beautiful Bluegrass Region, offers easy access to excellent outdoor recreation. Danville is an active community with both formalized leagues and programs and informal groups that meet to run, walk, and bike. Herrington Lake, popular for fishing, boating and skiing, is accessible in Boyle and surrounding counties.

The Knobs offer a beautiful ride with challenge for serious cyclists, and the countrysides are picturesque for family rides. The 500-acre Central Kentucky Wildlife Refuge in the Knob Lands offers easy-to-strenuous trails for hiking, birding, and star gazing.

The area is also a popular golfing haven. In addition to the member-owned Danville Country Club complex, Old Bridge, an 18-hole course, features one of the best par-4 holes in the region.

Running and other competitive events are held throughout the year for all ages. Youth activities that develop indoor and outdoor sporting skills are available through scouting, 4-H Clubs, the Salvation Army, church groups, and Parks and Recreation. Refer to the directory to learn whether those who offer private classes for dance, gymnastics, and martial arts are Chamber members.

Public Facilities
Public Parks provide baseball fields, tennis courts, and playground equipment for all to enjoy. There are also small neighborhood playgrounds with slides and swings. For more information about public facilities, leagues, teams, and classes for children and adults, contact Parks and Recreation, 859-238-1233.

Bunny Davis Recreation Complex
Facilities and equipment are available with per-use or monthly fees. It includes lighted tennis courts, outdoor pool complex with a full-size pool, a "baby" pool for children under age 5, bathroom/shower facilities, picnic tables, and a sand volleyball court.

Millennium Park
Over 800 acres, this playing field complex is designed for baseball, softball, T-ball, soccer, and pee-wee footfall, with concession stands for the soccer and baseball fields. There are two large picnic shelters and restroom facilities. Future development includes a swimming pool, a gymnasium and a running track, plus a multipurpose office facility. Playground areas for young children; a 10,000 square foot skate park for skateboarders, in-line skaters and bikers; and a 2-mile track for walking, jogging, rollerblading, and bicycling, are free and open to the public every day from dawn until dusk. Pets are permitted, but must be leashed.

Henry Jackson Park
This park offers playground equipment, tennis courts, and a 9-hole, par-30, regulation disc golf course with amateur and professional tees. Golfing discs are not supplied but may be purchased at a nominal fee locally. There is no charge for use of the Disc Golf course.

Cowan Park
Cowan Street Park offers a large field for football, baseball, and soccer practice. It also has a youth playground and picnic area.
